Tip New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers
We start the week 3 with the tip New York Giants @ San Francisco 49ers. After a short breather, both teams will meet at TNF. Do the Giants have the means to win again away from home?
Against probably the weakest team in the league, the Giants had to make a huge effort not to start the season 0-2 after the debacle in the opener against the Cowboys.
Right at the beginning, however, they immediately ran behind the music again. At halftime, Daniel Jones and Co. were already down 0-20, and by the middle of the 3rd quarter it was 28-7 for the Cardinals. But then something must have clicked. With ultimately a hard-fought 31-28 victory, it now goes on towards the Bay Area. Jones ended up with 321 yards and 2 touchdowns with one interception. Unfortunately, however, Barkley appears to have suffered a serious injury. Therefore, against the 49ers even more burden will lie on Jones.
After the impressive performance at the start of the season, the 49ers had to stretch a bit more against their rival from LA. At one point they were even down by 7 points. After halftime, however, the defense had adjusted to Stafford and picked up some important turnovers. In the offense, Purdy again remained without major mistakes, but he was unlucky to have overthrown players three times on long balls. Nevertheless, 30 points are again on the credit side.
Should Purdy now also succeed in mastering the long ball, I see black for most teams in the league.
Our conclusion for this game is very clear. The 49ers are playing at home for the first time, and the Giants left a lot of energy behind in their win over Arizona. In addition, San Francisco is certainly one of the best teams in the league and the Giants will have to play without Barkley. Therefore, the tip New York Giants @ San Francisco goes clearly in the direction of SF.
